New Student Registration
New Student Registration
During New Student Registration, you’ll meet with academic advisors and register for fall courses. This is a required step for all new students and helps ensure you’re prepared for your first semester at Illinois. Review the information below to learn how to sign up and what to expect before, during, and after your registration experience.
Sign-Up Process
New Student Registration sign-ups begin in mid-March. To sign up, you'll need to take the following steps:
Two Weeks Before
Complete your placement test(s) through Center for Innovation in Teaching & Learning (CITL) and college-level worksheet in myIllini.
On-Campus NSR
New Student Registration begins with check-in at the Illini Union starting at 8:15 a.m. and concludes around 4 p.m. Students can expect to complete essential activities like meeting with their advisor, registering for classes, obtaining their student ID Card (iCard) and other connection activities on campus. Families will have the opportunity to participate in an orientation experience to help them feel prepared to help their student transition to campus.
Lunch is provided for all students. Families have the opportunity to register in advance for a free lunch; more information will be sent via email to families signed up for NSR. Students and families should plan to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring an umbrella or rain gear in case of inclement weather.
Online NSR
