1. Complete Your Admitted Checklist
Your checklist is personalized to you, and you can manage it in myIllini by clicking on your application for admission.
2. Obtain Your Student Visa
Generally, if you're a citizen of a foreign country interested in studying in the U.S., you must have a student visa.
3. Submit Your Academic Records
If you're a first-year student, you must provide official academic records for all years of school you reported, including official copies of all school certificates and external exam results. Official test reports for any scores you self-reported also need to be submitted. If we don’t receive these by July 1 or if we find discrepancies, your offer will be rescinded and you won’t be able to enroll.
4. Check In Before Classes Start
Regardless of visa status, all international undergraduate and exchange students must report to International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) for check-in before classes start. Note that if you can’t arrive and check in by the dates listed, you need to reapply for a later term.
Campus Support
Illinois offers a number of international support services to help you navigate life on campus and enrich your college experience. One of these, International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS), is dedicated to serving new international students through one-on-one advising, immigration services, cultural and social programming, and more.
Campus Safety
Campus should be a safe space for students, and we go to great lengths to keep it that way. That includes a 24/7 police department with the highest accreditation possible.
