New Student and Family Experiences’ purpose is to connect you to valuable resources and information that are valuable for families of new Illinois students. We are here to support your family as you prepare for this significant transition. As your student is making plans to attend the University of Illinois, we’re sure you will have a lot of questions about what’s next. We are here to answer those questions now and throughout your student’s time at the university.

How does NSFE support families? We offer support by:
- Communicating regularly with parents and families of all Illinois students, to develop a critical parent-university partnership.
- Educating families about their new role as parents of a college student and their evolving development, including how their lives are changing and how they are feeling and thinking.
- Providing families of Illinois students with the information and tools they need to become effective mentors and coaches to their college students throughout their collegiate career.
- Providing volunteer opportunities for parents and families that keep them connected to the university community and encourage the development of relationships among fellow Illinois parents/families, the university, and the Illini Moms and Illini Dads Associations.
- Supporting the work of the Illini Dads and Illini Moms Associations, two private, non-profit, philanthropic organizations that, through their unique relationship with the university, provide opportunities for family engagement and support student success through their service to students and families.
